The Castle of Sauveterre was called Varenne at the beginning of the 20th Century. It’s date of construction isn’t precisely known, but it is certainly much earlier than 1676. It is an old family home that has kept all it’s authenticity and charm. Ideally located in the heart of the Village of Sauveterre between Avignon and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Varenne offers a breathtaking view of the Rhône Valley, with a backdrop of Mont Ventoux and Dentelles de Montmirail.
Surrounding the house is a quiet and peaceful garden guarded by a 400 year old Lebanese Cedar Tree. It is said to be a majestic protector of the House and Village!
This enchanting house seduced Paul and Emma Radford at first sight. So much so, Emma accepted Paul’s proposal of marriage in this house 13 years ago. It is only natural that they decided to settle here a few years later with their three children aged 7 to 11 years. An Irish family conquered by Provence and it’s many attractions, wishes to share this haven of peace with you from May to October. They hope you enjoy as much as they do, the serenity of this idyllic setting and all the pleasures of the region. Everything is done here to make you feel welcome and at ease whether you are a couple, family or travelling with friends. Enjoy a moment of quiet reading in the lounge, swim in the outdoor pool under the great sun of the South of France enjoy a glass of Côtes du Rhône from one of the many neighbouring Domaines.
Whatever your needs, Paul & Emma will do all they can to ensure a memorable and unforgettable experience in this beautiful Château.
In April 2019, we were happy to welcome a new member into the family. His name is Woody, he is a golden doodle, large in size but a gentle giant.
